A Little Tenderness

I realize that you may think I have it altogether
I realize that you may think I’m as firm as the rock of Gibraltar

Do you know that daily I feel like I’ve been sacrificed on the altar?

I get that you may see all that I take on and handle,
And I get that you think I’m so strong

But I promise you I too am weak and vulnerable,
That I am as tired as the day is long

I ask that you handle me with care, even when my face is unyielding
(Resting bitch face)

Try a little tenderness when interacting with me
Be as soothing as a lullaby’s song

Make me know when I feel alone

You are there for me, and in my thinking I am totally wrong

  1. Oh she may be weary
Them young girls they do get weary
    But when she gets weary
    Try a little tenderness

All you got to do is, man, hold her when you wanna
Squeeze her, don’t tease her, never leave her
